Most of the discussion for the past 2 years centered around COVID-19 has been about vaccines. Very little talk has been about prevention via healthy lifestyle.
In July 2021, the CDC released the numbers behind severe COVID-19 complications and comorbidities.

They looked at over 540,000 adults with severe illness related to COVID-19 and what were their underlying medical conditions. They found that the strongest risk factor for death was obesity, anxiety, and diabetes with complications (diabetes with corresponding condition such as coronary artery disease and atherosclerosis).
All three of these risk factors can be mitigated through exercise:

It is frustrating to me to see an opportunity to teach the benefits of healthy lifestyle to combat serious illness slip away. It would be wiser for the government and media, in conjunction with the medical community, to focus on preventing serious COVID-19 complications via exercise because the benefits of that lifestyle will last long after COVID-19 is over.
